Football Aid 2018

The 2018 England vs Italy game at The Amex was a hugely enjoyable event for all involved and we'd like to say a massive thanks again to all our players for their excellent efforts on the pitch.

History & Background

Our 1st ever England vs Italy match was organised in the run up to the eagerly anticipated World Cup 2014 clash in Brazil between the two Countries. The game was played at West Ham Utd's iconic Boleyn Ground (Upton Park) on Tue 13th May and featured James Beattie and Luca Franchini as Managers. The England team won 6-3 to earn Beattie his 1st Managerial success and the game also featured a stunning Goal of the Season winning volley by Italy's Paul Short.

In 2016 the game moved to Everton's Goodison Park, with Italy coming out on top 7-3 and in 2018 the hugely popular fixture moved venue again to Brighton & Hove Albion's Amex Stadium, with the Azzuri prevailing again, this time 7-0. With Italy leading 2-1 overall the England team will be keen to get back on level terms in the next encounter.

Season 2019 will see another brand new venue for the England vs Italy fixture, with the next instalment scheduled to be played at Crystal Palace's Selhurst Park on Tue 28th May 2019!

Football Aid could certainly be described as a game of two halves. On one side we’re fulfilling fans’ lifelong ambitions to grace the hallowed turf at the club they support. At the same time, we’ve raised significant funds for a host of charity and community projects on a regional, national and international scale. This perfect balance is changing lives, making dreams come true and benefiting the beautiful game.
