In 2011 the Board of Trustees took the decision to broaden the scope of its grant giving beyond Diabetes. Grants considered may include any charity or voluntary organisation nominated by the board as appropriate.
Over £2.2M in total has been paid out or designated as payable to charities in the 19 years since Field of Dreams was established.
Of this, £259,000 has been awarded to various diabetes research, education and management projects, with the remaining amounts being awarded (or set aside to be awarded) to a number of charities and voluntary organizations nominated by Field of Dreams' supporter clubs and sports partners locally, nationally and across the globe. For further information on these awards, please visit our Achievements page.
Since Field of Dreams is responsible for the distribution of funds raised by Football Aid's annual programme and other associated fundraising activities, it was agreed that a percentage of the money raised would be apportioned to the participating club's nominated registered charities as well as projects chosen by the board.
One of the tasks of Field of Dreams is therefore to ensure that the club's preferred charities and voluntary organisations have access to and can readily receive these funds.
