Player Stories

I attended my first ever football game in January 2005, Swansea vs Reading at the Vetch Field. The atmosphere was electric especially when Lee Trundle got near the ball. Roll forward 14 years, I am playing at the home ground of Swansea City (Liberty Stadium) against Lee Trundle! I had an amazing day and thank Football Aid for giving me this wonderful opportunity.

Football Aid 2019

Our 2019 game at the Liberty Stadium in 2018 was a hugely enjoyable event for all involved and we'd like to say a massive thanks again to all our fans for their excellent efforts on the pitch and Swans Legends Lee Trundle and David D'Auria for their fantastic support on the day.

History & Background

The Swans created history when they became the 1st Welsh club side to host a Football Aid game on the 15th May 2018. We were privileged to have the support of fans favourite Lee Trundle on the day and the skilful striker certainly treated the fans to a virtuoso display, scoring 2 goals for the Home team and 1 for the Away team! The match finished 5-1 to the Home team and after the game all the players commented on the excellent playing surface and facilities at the Liberty Stadium and the warmth of the welcome they received from all the club staff.

Our games at the Liberty Stadium are organised in association with Swansea City AFC Community Trust and we're privileged to have their valuable support.

Football Aid could certainly be described as a game of two halves. On one side we’re fulfilling fans’ lifelong ambitions to grace the hallowed turf at the club they support. At the same time, we’ve raised significant funds for a host of charity and community projects on a regional, national and international scale. This perfect balance is changing lives, making dreams come true and benefiting the beautiful game.
