Lawrie Sanchez

Born in Lambeth, England in 1959, Lawrie Sanchez was a highly accomplished midfielder, who played over 530 league games for Reading and Wimbledon.

His long playing career included a number of fantastic highlights, including scoring the winning goal in the 1988 FA Cup Final against Liverpool and representing Northern Ireland.

Lawrie has also enjoyed a highly successful Managerial career, with Sligo Rovers, Wycombe Wanderers, Fulham, Barnet and Northern Ireland amongst the teams he's Managed since retiring from playing in 1995. His spell in charge of Northern Ireland was particularly successful, and under his charge they rose to 27th in the FIFA ranking and recorded famous wins over England and Spain.

Lawrie has shown fantastic support for Football Aid since 2010 by lending his expert coaching expertise and Managing the teams in our Reading matches, and it was a great privilege for our organisation when Lawrie agreed to become a Football Aid Ambassador in 2013. Football Aid Ball
