Scotland International Dougie has spent his whole playing career in England and is best known for his 2 spells at Crystal Palace (where he was only the 7th Eagles player to score 100 goals for the club). The esteem with which he was held by Palace fans was evidenced by the sizable crowd that gave him a rousing send off in his Testimonial match on August 2008. A proven goalscorer throughout his career, he also played for fellow top flight clubs Wolves and Nottingham Forest and started season 2009-10 with Southend United.
After being appointed an Ambassador, Dougie (while still on the playing staff) made his debut appearance at our Crystal Palace match in 2006, alongside fellow club legend Jim Cannon. However his fledgling Managerial career got off to a tough start with his Home side losing to a rampant Away side 15-1! He Managed the Home team again in our 2007 event and despite an improved performance the final result went in favour of the Away team again. However Dougie remained generous in defeat and was willing to stay long into the night signing autographs for his adoring Eagles fans!
