Your Chance to Meet Football Aid's New Patron - Denis Law

It is with great honour and excitement that we can now reveal footballing legend Denis Law as the new Patron of Football Aid. Carrying on the legacy from former Patron, the late Sir Bobby Robson, Denis is delighted to be part of our organisation, and speaking on his appointment, ‘The King’ commented:

“I am delighted to be named as Patron of Football Aid, and look forward to being part of the team. Sir Bobby was a great man, with a real passion for his charitable work, and I am honoured to be involved with this great organisation. The work Football Aid do and opportunities they provide to supporters is superb, and with so many different charities benefiting from the ‘Live The Dream’ events, it really is a fantastic organisation.”

With 2010 seeing Football Aid celebrate their 10th Anniversary, Executive Director David Dale said: “It was a tough task to find a suitable replacement for Sir Bobby Robson, but in Denis Law we have found a great man, and a true legend of the beautiful game. On behalf of all the team at Football Aid, I would like to say how privileged we are to be naming Denis Law as our Patron”.

Denis enjoyed a wonderful playing career, starting off at Huddersfield Town before playing for Manchester City, Torino and Manchester United. During his time at Old Trafford he was a double League Championship winner, FA Cup winner and was voted European Player of the Year in 1964. In addition he made 55 appearances for Scotland, scoring 30 times which makes him his country's joint all time top International goal scorer. To cap it all in November 2003 he was awarded the Golden Player title when he was voted Scotland's single most outstanding player of the past 50 years by the SFA for UEFA's 50th anniversary.

Denis’s first appearance as Football Aid Patron will be at the Masterclass event at Carrington, where participants will have the chance of a lifetime to meet one of the finest players the beautiful game has ever witnessed. Also at this event will be another Man Utd legend and great Football Aid supporter Denis Irwin, who will be on hand to offer his expert advice to our participants. Places are still available for this magnificent event and if you'd like to get involved please make sure and visit the Man Utd team page for full details of how to take part.
