Read Dr Vincenzo Felici's book about his Football Aid Experience

It was a real honour for Football Aid to receive a special package in the post recently from a fantastic, long-time supporter of ours from Ancona, Italy. Dr Vincenzo Felici played in our Chelsea game at Stamford Bridge in 2007 and has been working on a book about his experience ever since and we were privileged to be the first people to receive a copy.  

The book is in Italian - an English language version should be available soon - and is called "Traditore per un Giorno" ("Traitor for a Day"), and explains what it meant for a committed Juventus fan to play for his 2nd team. The book is on sale now and Vincenzo has very kindly agreed to donate part of the proceeds to the charities that Football Aid support. "The dream, a passion fruit cultivated from an early age, may be made from an accidental episode but is pursued with tenacity. The first episodes relate to the love of football in general and in particular for Juventus, beach football matches with friends, games of Subbuteo, to collections of most disparate elements of the history of the various teams. Next Italian football takes a prominent place that ties him to the Anglo-Saxon fanzine 'UK Football, Please" and leads him to learn of the Scottish Association "Football Aid" that, for charitable purposes, enables fans to experience for a day the experience of being a professional footballer, playing with the official jersey of the team, in one of major British stadiums.

In "Traitor for a day," the author tells the realisation of this dream, his athletic training, injury during a game with the National Pharmacists in Italy and the journey to London to wear a Chelsea shirt at Stamford Bridge alongside club legend Scott Minto and to score a goal. A history not only for fans, that these episodes will in part if themselves, reliving pleasant memories, and will explore some areas the history of football, but for the uninitiated, for whom this will be the profound testimony that football 'just from what' the record that there has used to hearing, made of great stories of humanity, solidarity, friendship, brotherhood and love. Part of the proceeds from the sale the book will be donated to the Association of Scottish charity Football Aid, which supports children with diabetes in Britain."

"Il sogno nel cassetto, frutto di una passione coltivata fin da piccoli, può essere realizzato a partire da un episodio fortuito ma perseguito con tenacia. Vincenzo Felici racconta i primi episodi legati all’amore per il calcio in generale e in particolare per la Juventus, dalle partite in spiaggia con gli amici a quelle a Subbuteo, fino alle collezioni degli elementi piu disparati della storia delle diverse squadre. Accanto al calcio nostrano assume un posto di rilievo quello anglosassone che lo lega alla fanzine «UK football, please» e lo porta a conoscere l’Associazione "Football Aid" che, per scopi benefici, permette ad appassionati di provare per un giorno l’esperienza di essere un calciatore professionista, giocando con la maglia ufficiale della squadra che si e' scelta, in uno dei principali stadi britannici.

In "Traditore per un giorno" l'autore racconta la realizzazione di questo sogno, la preparazione atletica, l’infortunio durante la partita con la Nazionale Farmacisti e la determinazione che lo ha portato comunque a Londra a indossare la maglia del Chelsea nello "Stamford Bridge" accanto a Scott Minto e segnare il proprio goal. Una storia fatta non solo per appassionati, che in questi episodi rivedranno in parte se stessi, rivivendo piacevoli ricordi, e potranno approfondire alcuni settori della storia del calcio, ma anche per i profani per i quali questa sarà la profonda testimonianza che il calcio e' altro da cio' che la cronaca ci ha abituati a sentire, fatto di storie di grande umanita', solidarieta', amicizia, fratellanza e passione. Parte del ricavato derivante dalla vendita del libro sarà devoluto all'Associazione di benficienza scozzese "Football Aid" ( www.footballaid.com ) che sostiene i bimbi diabetici britannici."
