GRAEME LE SAUX RETURNS TO JERSEY WITH RBS INTERNATIONAL AND FOOTBALL AID!

One of Jersey’s most famous sons is returning to the Island with Football Aid following last year’s successful three-day football extravaganza. RBS International will once again sponsor the Jersey Festival of Football after the overwhelming interest shown in the inaugural event in September in 2007.

This summer’s programme, scheduled to take place from Friday 18th - Sunday 20th July, will be extra special as Jersey’s Graeme Le Saux has already confirmed his participation and has since been announced as Patron of Football Aid’s Festivals of Football. Last year, the football legend was joined by Viv Anderson, Chris Waddle and Pat Nevin amongst others.

Graeme Le Saux said: “I was thrilled to be invited to become Patron of Festivals of Football. It is a privilege to be associated with Football Aid and the innovative way it helps to raise money for good causes. This year’s RBS International Jersey Festival of Football looks set to be bigger and better than last year with something for all the family to enjoy and more community causes benefiting.”

The football fuelled weekend this year includes the ultimate ‘Live the Dream’ experience in front of a packed house at Springfield, a 5-a-side tournament, an exclusive celebrity golf competition, community football, combination league and youth football demonstrations and much much more.

The weekend kicks off with a star studded 4-course Sporting Dinner in the close company of these former sporting greats. Individuals, companies or groups and teams with an interest in taking part in these amateur football and golf experiences should email Football Aid's Jersey team at jersey@footballaid.com.

Ian Henderson, CEO, RBS International said, “the RBS International Jersey Football of Festival was a huge success last year and we are delighted to help bring Football Aid and the Football Legends back to Jersey for another great weekend of football and fund raising events”

It’s not just those with a passion for football who can take part in the occasion, youngsters, corporate groups or community associations can also share the experience by joining in the fun across the weekend of 18th - 20th July. Adding to the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor of Jersey and Mrs Ridgeway will be in attendance at Springfield on Sunday 20th July to show their support of this unique festival atmosphere.

The event aims to raise funds and awareness for local island community projects and charities through hosting these exclusive football themed events, attracting famous names and bringing together an exciting programme of activities.

Football Aid was founded in 2000 by Scottish Businessman Craig Paterson as a unique way of raising money for a wide range of charities and voluntary organisations. Fans of the beautiful game are given the chance to take part in a range of unique football based experiential products including their original 'Live the Dream' event allowing supporters to play an adrenaline fuelled 90 minutes on the pitch of the UK Club they support.

All funds raised from events are distributed through Football Aid’s parent charity, Field of Dreams towards diabetes research, education and management projects and also to charities nominated for funding by the partners involved in the events.
