A mere three days after the first team claimed their last three points of the season, twenty-eight men stood in the tunnel in awe of their heroes. Standing alongside midfielder Jan Molby, defender Rob Jones and striker John Aldridge, all the players had to do was live up to their predecessors and Live their Dream at Anfield.

Liverpool Home Vs Liverpool Away
Game 2
Anfield
KO: 14:30 am
Match Offficials: Alan Butler, Stephen Gregory and Tom Jacques
Legends: Jim Beglin, Michael Thomas, Brian Hall and Howard Gayle
Liverpool away managed a comfortable victory in this leg of the Anfield Football Aid ‘live the dream’ match on this sunny Friday afternoon. A finishing masterclass from away striker Stefan Simons managed to undo the chances of Jim Beglins home side.
The opener was somewhat against the run of play after some early dominance from the home side, as Andrew McGovern was extensively tested with four long range efforts in the first ten minutes. A minute later, the deadlock was broken when captain
Stefan Simons followed up home keeper Paul Glennie’s save, after Damien McAteer’s strike from just outside the area, and scored.
The lead was doubled after 26 minutes after a quick free kick was taken by Howard Gale, and found its way into the intelligent run of
Simons, who managed to get the ball into the back of the net for the second time in the game. McAteer was involved again after winning a free kick by darting through the home defence before being scythed down at the edge of the area.
As the half continued, the away team began to take greater control. A deflected strike by
Nigel Drein increased their lead to three-nil, before
Stefan Simons completed his hat-trick with a cool finish after being put through on the goalkeeper.
Half Time: Liverpool Home 0-4 Liverpool Away
The second half began similar to the first, with Beglin’s side eager to get back into the match. Although perhaps unlucky to be behind by such a large margin, they started the second half vibrantly, but were quickly undone after good persistence from
Ian Gould on the half way line led to the midfielder driving up through the home defence to slot the ball home for the fifth goal.
The sixth goal came shortly before the hour mark, after a good run from Ian Gould down the right hand side led to a skillful cross to
Simons, who nodded the ball home again. The goal scorer turned provider for the next goal as he squared the ball to
Damien McAteer, with the midfielder having to only tap the ball into Glannie’s empty net.
The 85th minute highlighted
Stefan Simons fantastic achievement for the day, as he notched his fifth goal of the game after breaking clear of the defence and coolly slotting the ball home.
At 0-8 with only 5 minutes remaining the game at last began to turn around to the advantage to the men in red. Some inspired substitutions by manager and legend Jim Beglin rattled the away defence, with the increasing pressure leading to the concession of a penalty in the 86th minute. The penalty was duly converted by home team captain
Simon Joslyn to bring a goal back for the home team.
Two minutes later the home side were awarded a second penalty which was calmly slotted home, this time by midfielder
Simon Thomson. The fortunes of the home side continued to improve as
Ian McDonnell scored their third goal in as many minutes, with a neat finish past the no-longer impregnable Andrew McGovern. The final gaol of the match came in the dying minutes of injury time when striker
Sav Christoforou shot the ball home after some exciting play. An exciting end to a match, which allowed for both the home team and the away team to leave with much to talk about.
