Norwich City 2008

The final win at Carrow Road in 2008 had been the first team's 3-0 triumph over QPR. Only two days later, and a group of twenty-two Canary fans took to the tunnel to try and replicate some of the scenarios replicated in that win. They stood proudly where only 48 hours earlier, heroes including Darren Huckerby and Mark Fotheringham had prepared for their final Home showdown.

In the end it was a comfortable 5-2 win for the home side with striker Steven Thompson scoring a hat-trick on a warm sunny afternoon at Carrow Road.

It took 27 minutes for the away side to break the deadlock but after that the goals kept coming. It was worth the wait to see Mick Blackman's clinical left-foot finish after the ball broke to him in the box from a free-kick.

Justice was served when Stephen Thompson converted a penalty that was awarded for his own shot being handled on the line. The home team's lead was restored in the 40th minute when Thompson struck a low, powerful shot that was deflected to leave goalkeeper Ben Youngs with no chance.

Half Time: Norwich City Home 2-1 Norwich City Away

Thompson continued his magic in the second half and a shot that went in off the far post signalled his hat-trick; which he duly celebrated by climbing into the stand! Injuries began to take their toll on the away team and this was shown by a further two goals from the home side. Philip Thorpe scored with a low, left-footed finish from a well-worked move in the 80th minute. The away side pushed to get something from the game which allowed the home team to counter and Alex Page slid the ball home after the ball was squared to him by Dean Hurren.

The away side did find consolation two minutes from time when centre half Darren Boyd towered above the defence to score with a powerful header from a well placed corner.
