Spurs Game 2 2007

Match Report Tottenham Hotspurs 2007 Game 2

Football Aid Championships, Friday May 4th, White Hart Lane

Tottenham Hotspurs (Home) 4 – Tottenham Hotspurs (Away) 4

It was a day for titanic matches at White Hart Lane as rival heavyweights, Spurs Home and Spurs Away, fought out a thrilling finale to the Tottenham Hotspurs leg of the Football Aid Championships.

Sparks flew and when the final whistle blew those watching had seen a fantastic battle, Wolfe-Cowen bagging two goals for Spurs Home, Vyakaranam netting what he must have thought was Home’s winner before Away hero, Shelley, stepped up to complete his hat-trick and rescue a draw with a goal in the dying minutes of the game.

Shelley opened up the scoring, pouncing on a rebound after keeper Chapman failed to hold his initial good save.

The Home team clawed their way back into the match when Wolfe-Cowen won the chase for a long ball, using all his skill to score from a tight angle on the right.

Only a minute later, the striker was on the prowl again, flashing his talent by deftly skipping past keeper Ball and neatly placing the ball in the back of the net to make it 2-1.

Barely giving the crowd time to pause for breath, the Away team equalized. Shelley in action again, wrong footing Chapman with a clever header to the left post.

However, the game soon see-sawed in Home’s favour again, thanks to a powerful shot from Inman after 35 minutes and Vykaranam looked to have finished off the Away side minutes from half time, poking his shot home to make it 4-2 after a lung bursting chase to the ball.

The second half was an equally lively affair as the Away team came bursting out the blocks, determined to score.

In a risky move, the majority of the Away team pushed up front, trying their chance at goal. Their gamble paid off though when right back Dunne penetrated Home’s defence and fired the ball low past Chapman to bring the side roaring back into the game.

Keeper Ball worked hard to ensure they had a fighting chance, pulling off a magnificent save to deny Baum from putting the Home side further ahead in the 72nd minute.

And much to the delight of the Away fans, Shelley scored a sensational equalizer 6 minutes from time to hand the side a well deserved draw. Completing his hat-trick in style, the midfield powerhouse unleashed a feisty effort that swirled around the keeper and dropped into goal.

The final score a deserving 4-4 to two talented sides.
