Blackburn Rovers 2005

It was a mixture of nerves and anticipation in the air at Ewood Park the 9th of May when 28 football Aid players over took the stadium for their debut on the hallowed turf for a 90-minute game of football in front of friends and family on the stand.

After a tour of the stadium the players were guided to the changing rooms where they found their personalised Blackburn rovers strip. Finally it was time to grace the turf together with Legend Alan Kelly who managed the away team and Legend Kevin Gallacher who Played and managed the Home team.

I was an exciting game where the away team finally won with 5-1.

Scorers Home team –

No 10. Kevin Cronshaw

Scorers Away Team –

No. 15. Ben Wiseman scored 3 goals, while team mates No 11. Paul Heron and No 17. Simon Leyland scored one each.

Captains were:

Brian Kennedy for the Home team and Rob Brocklebank for the Away team.

Man of The Match

Nominated the Man of the match for the Home team was No 4. Michael Alleyne and No 6. Neil Heron for the Way team. Both showed impressive skills and received a signed ball from Alan Kelly and Kevin Gallacher.

It was a great day at Ewood Park, which players, guests and legends enjoyed.

Quotes from the day were:

“I can't thank Football Aid enough for the amazing time I had playing at Blackburn Rovers on Monday evening. It really was everything I had hoped for ... and then some!”

“I am writing to thank you and everyone else at football aid for organising last nights game at Blackburn Rovers, I had an excellent night as did the rest of the lads.”
