Norwich City 2005

Monday 25th April saw the Football Aid team down at Norwich City, fully recovered from the excitement at the weekend in Southampton. In near perfect conditions for football, 28 keyed up Norwich fans arrived at Carrow Road ready for the big day ahead. So eager to get started, the boys bypassed the tour of the stadium and headed straight for the changing rooms to greet their Captains for the day, former Norwich City legends Darren Eadie (Home) and Dale Gordon (Away).

After rousing team talks and a warm up, the players lined up in the tunnel with the very excitable mascots Jack Skerritt (Home) and Alex Murray (Away) to be led out onto the hallowed pitch of Carrow Road. The cheers from the crowd filled the stadium as the game kicked off under a faultless blue sky.

The game started at a furious pace with both sides attacking early. After a nail-biting 90 minutes, the Away team triumphed 3 –2 over the Home team.

HOME – 2

No 11 James Murray scored both goals

AWAY - 3

No 6 Simon Murray

No 8 Andrew Page

No 9 Derek Murphy

After scoring two emphatic goals, James Murray was awarded Man of the Match for the Home team. Ian Robert Fitch (No 10 Away) earned his Man of the Match for his achievements both on and off the field after taking part in the London Marathon the week before and then playing a blistering 90 minutes for Football Aid! Well done!

The day was deemed a resounding success by all with many looking ahead to next years contest!

Quotes from the day are:

“Absolutely fantastic day. Really enjoyed it again. See you next year!” (Jon Chatten)

“Fantastic day! I'll be bidding next year for sure. And will recommend to all friends who don't play my position! A special word about Jeremy Goss - a model professional in everything he did who was genuinely interested in us, the event, and the charity. A rare and valuable asset to Norwich City Football Club!”(Zak Ireson)

“Thanks for the day and the training day. Made me feel really welcome. Two goals and man of the match! Can't get better! Many thanks!” (James Murray)

“Unbelievable day, fantastic and back next year” (Richard Skerritt)
