Crystal Palace 2004

Selhurst Park played host on the 31st of August to the annual Crystal Palace Football Aid match in which almost £6,000 was raised by players' bids and donations on the day.

Fans bid to play on the hallowed turf for teams managed by Kit Symons and Terry Bullivant.

After arriving at the players entrance, the players met their managers for the day, changed into their own personalised first team strips and went through the pre-match warm-up before taking their places on the field.

The Palace away team, managed by Terry Bullivant (now in his third year of working for Football Aid), won 9-1 after 90 minutes play in a sun-drenched Selhurst Park.

Man of the Match for the home team was Richard Hofen and for the away team was Steven Cairns.

"It was a brilliant, fantastic day - words cannot describe it" said Matt Knight, who scored twice for the away team.

Mark Dimmock, Events Co-Ordinator at Football Aid explained -

"We are now in our fourth season with Crystal Palace and were delighted to have the use of the pitch here at Selhurst Park so early in the season. It was a fantastic opportunity for both fans and Football Aid and we look forward to continuing the relationship in the future.

I would like to thank all the bidders involved, but particularly Dominic Jordan the vice-Chairman here for all his hard work and Terry Byfield for all his running about and organising, as well as all those who attended, the managers and the ballboys."

Football Aid would like to thank the official Crystal Palace website for the match details used above and would encourage you to visit their website at – www.cpfc.co.uk where further pictures are available and video footage can be viewed by signing up to “Crystal Palace World”.
