Nominated Man of the Match was captain Roddy Lawrie from the Home team and for the Away team

The result from the match ended 4-2 in favour of the Home team.

Home – 4

No. 10. Captain Roddy Lawrie scored the first goal after 6 minutes, No. 7. Barry Maclure in the 12th minute made a great chip over the Away teams Goalkeeper (and Football Aid Operations Manager) Stewart McGuire. Third and fourth goal were made by no. 9. Ian Adams late on in the first 45 minute to end the exhilarating half.

Away - 2

No. 2. Mark O’Neil scored both goals, one from skilful open play and a penalty.

Everyone contributed to a fantastic day at Tynecastle, which was enjoyed by Football Aid participants, players, friends and families.

Quotes from the day were:

“I took the following week off on holiday for recovery. Being 42 I know my limitations. I have my own photos and a tape of some of the action and its only now sinking in exactly what I was up to the previous Sunday. Hearing my 4-year-old girl shouting my name from the stand was just brilliant and the memories will stay with me always. Thanks for everything! (Drew King)”

“I can't tell you just how much fun I had yesterday at Tynecastle. Even though I had a stinking hangover and due to travelling from Aberdeen only got 3 hours sleep the night before!! It was a day that I will remember for the rest of my life and even the people who came along to watch my substandard performance seemed to enjoy laughing at me enough to have a great time too, despite the journey. Thanks again for a truly special day!(Michael Sinclair)”

“Had a great day yesterday! Was a bit surreal!! The legend’s were great and everyone got on well. Everyone seemed to have a great time. My family and friends thoroughly enjoyed themselves too. I got a couple of goals in the first half which was brilliant, but struggled a bit in the second because of tired legs due to playing on Saturday as well. Thanks very much for my day!! Would definitely do it again! (Ian Adams)”
