Sunderland 2003

Kick off 11am

For any Sunderland fan playing at the Football Aid match, the line up didn’t get better than this. The Home team’s manager was none other than Charley Hurley and his captain was Kevin Ball. The Away team was managed by Richie Pitt and his captain was fans’ favourite Niall Quinn.

The game was well fought by both sides with Kevin Ball’s defence denying the away team several times. But under Niall (senior)’s stewardship the away team managed to win it by 2-4. Niall even delighted the crowd by chipping the goalie to add his name to the scoresheet. There was a great turnout watching the match and everyone had a great time despite the occasional downpour.

Charley Hurley’s man of the match for the Away team was No1 Ian Ventress.
Richie Pitt’s man of the match for the home team was No5 Darren Penty.
