Liverpool 2003

Kick Off 2pm

It was a sunny day at Anfield as the two teams lined up for photographs. The home side were managed by Ian Callaghan and captained by Alan Kennedy and David Fairclough while the away were managed by Brian Hall and captained by Phil Neal and David Johnson.

The game started off lively and it appeared to be relatively even. However, it wasn’t before long before the Away team’s superior play began to pay off. The goals began pouring in for the Away team, to the extent that even the Away goalkeeper (Ian Murray) managed to get on the score sheet. Had it not been for some fantastic saves by the home keeper (Phil Lillywhite) the score would have been a lot worse, although he did have to pick the ball out the back of the net 10 times (Varcas, Lawrence, Varcas x2, Lawrence, Roberts x2, Murray, Neville, Bingham). It was not all doom and gloom for the Home team; they managed to score three times courtesy of No 9-Badre Alireza, No 7- Paul Bennett, No 17- Ian Kirk.

Despite the 3-10 score line, all the players had a lot of fun and the following players were chosen by Brian Hall and Ian Callaghan as man of the match:

Home 1 (Goalkeeper) Phil Lillywhite
Away 10 (Centre forward) Marc Goulding
