Hibernian 2003

Kick Off 6.30pm

It was an evening of lovely weather, as 28 players arrived at Easter Road clutching their kit bags. Despite being nervous, these players were all very excited as they were about to take part in the second game of the Football Aid season.

Walking into the changing rooms the players found their personalised shirts hanging up, and were greeted by their captains for the day. In the home team dressing room, Keith Wright was the Captain. In the away dressing room, Mickey Weir was the Captain.

After a team talk from their captains, the two teams lined up and were led out onto the “hallowed” turf of Easter Road. They were greeted by a very supportive crowd, who were enjoying their view from the hospitality suite stands.

The game started well with goals being scored on both sides. It was a closely-fought battle, that saw the home team take the upper hand, with great goals being scored on both sides. The scorers for the home team were Tracy Walls, scoring a hat-trick, Scott McDonald with two goals and Douglas MacPherson, Graham Watson and Keith Wright all scoring one each. On the away team Duncan Smith scored two goals and David Dishon and Kris Burns scored one each.

The game finished 8-4 to the home team, and was thoroughly enjoyed by all, especially the players, who were delighted to have the chance to play alongside Hibs greats such as Keith Wright and Mickey Weir as they had all spent years watching them from the stands.

Scott McDonald, number 11 for the home team, was presented the man of the match title, for his great goal scoring and performance. Duncan Smith on the away team won man of the match for his team for some really great attacking.
