Southend United are one of Football Aid's latest signings, having made their debut in our 2009 season. The inaugural match at Roots Hall featured Manager Steve Tilson and Assistant Paul Brush and will go down as one of our most exciting yet, finishing in a 6-6 draw and only being decided by a sudden death penalty taken by the Manager himself! It also featured an appearance by super fan David Marsh, amazingly making his 100th appearance in a Football Aid match. Perhaps fittingly he Captained the Home team to victory, scoring his penalty in the shoot-out in the process. Our return match in 2010 also featured Steve Tilson and this time he brought along club Goalkeeping coach Lee Turner to play in the Away team, Tilson again emerged victorious, this time 5-0 in normal time!
