Thursday the 2nd April 2009 saw the beginning of an exciting new chapter in Football Aid history, with our first ever Wales International match taking place at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. This was just our 2nd ever International event, following on from our highly successful Scotland matches at Hampden and it provided Welsh football fans with the unrivalled opportunity to represent their country at their national stadium. The event format involved a Wales International Home Team taking on a Rest of the World Away team, with the Home side led by Clayton Blackmore and the Away team featuring Pat Nevin and Trevor Steven.
