Historically, each member of the Leicester City senior playing squad have chosen a different charity to support under the LCFC Players’ Charity Scheme. Up until September 2007, Field of Dreams had awarded over £3,800 to the scheme with charities including Melton Mencap, Leicester Down Syndrome and the Anti Bullying Alliance all receiving funds over the years.

Leicester City chose to nominate their share of the proceeds from the 2008 game to Konnect9 Worldwide Ltd, (parent charity of Giving World Online - a not for profit organisation whose aim is to divert the world’s surplus resources to meet the needs of the world’s poorest people. The charity was extremely grateful to receive the £2,000 and commented - “Thank you so much to Field of Dreams and to Leicester City for this donation. As a small charity this donation will make a big difference in helping us to deliver our services to disadvantaged people.”

Leicester City nominated the Leicester Hospitals Charity for their 2007 grants. The Charity received £3,150 for the Musculo Skeletal Department specifically for the spinal injury patients at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.

Debbie Adlerstein from the Fundraising Department wrote. “We are now in a position to purchase 2 readers to benefit patients who can spend up to 6 weeks on their backs. Many, many thanks.”
