To date, over £8,000 has been awarded to the Teeside Hospice Care Foundation as a result of the Football Aid games at the Riverside. Teesside Hospice Care Foundation exists to enhance the quality of life for those suffering from a life-limiting illness. It offers specialist palliative care and support to patients and carers, in the belief that each person is entitled to dignity and choice within the best provision of care.
Last season's award was used to purchase two recliner riser electric chairs for their day patients while in 2005, information booklets and literature about the Hospice were created for promotional purposes.
A grant of £2, 450 in 2004 helped replace catering equipment for the Hospice. Chris Nestor, Grants Officer said, "We wished to continue to provide our patients with a high standard of meals and service and purchasing new and replacement equipment was to help us do this.”
“It has enabled us to continue to provide high quality meals in a friendly and caring setting especially as the previous equipment was wearing out and ceasing to function properly. By providing good meals within a caring setting, we hope our patients gain enjoyment and relief from their illnesses."
