John Hendrie

A fearless and committed forward, John Hendrie made 181 (+ 11 as sub) league appearances for Boro and scored 44 goals.

On signing from Leeds, Hendrie scored a goal that Boro fans still talk about to this day, picking the ball up just outside his own box and weaving past the entire Millwall team before slotting the ball home. The deep lying striker helped Boro win promotion to the newly founded FA Premier League in 1992, was their leading scorer in 1995 when they won promotion back to the top flight and secured legendary status by scoring the last ever goal at Ayresome Park.

As well as settling into his new role of Football Aid Ambassador, John is a presenter on Boro TV and can be seen regularly at the Riverside.
