CLUB HISTORY & BACKGROUND

Newcastle United joined the Football Aid family in 2001 and continued to host events until 2003 at St James' Park. Legends involved in those early games included Peter Beardsley, Bobby Moncur, Mick Martin and Kenny Wharton with the match in 2003 even featuring a cameo appearance by Manager at the time Sir Bobby Robson! The Club hosted the inaugural Legends Master Class back in 2005, with fans taking part in a day's training and match action at the Club's Academy. Since 2007, the action has moved back to St James' Park, with fans' favourites like Peter Beardsley, Mick Martin, John Anderson, John Carver, Alan Shoulder and Ian Bogie thrilling the ever excitable St James' faithful.

2009 POST EVENT UPDATE

This year’s event at St James' Park was a huge success, with both teams doing themselves proud in front of the enthusiastic crowd on the day. We'd like to send a massive thank you to Toon legends John Carver and Alan Shoulder for their fantastic support at the event. A full match report will be available in our Match Reports section soon.
